Saint-Michel Entrepreneurship Lab

The Saint-Michel Entrepreneurship Lab is a pilot project aimed at young people aged 17 to 25 in the Saint-Michel neighborhood, developed by the Quartier des arts du cirque in partnership with PME MTL Centre-Est, the CJE Centre-Nord, and representatives from youth community organizations in Saint-Michel.

project objectives

  • Inspire young people through entrepreneurship education, with a primary focus on hands-on learning through workshops and real-world scenarios
  • Expose young people to entrepreneurship experts and inspiring role models who can help them structure their ideas, get organized, and develop a plan for the future
  • Foster networking between young people and entrepreneurs
  • Get young people out and about, expose them to new experiences, and inspire them

The 3 steps of the lab

Workshops

A series of 6 hands-on workshops, each lasting 2 hours, designed to demystify entrepreneurship and help participants acquire the basic skills needed to start a business. A certificate of completion and startup grants are offered.

Dates for the next cohort will be announced soon.

lab boutique

A pop-up shop housed in a shipping container on Jarry Street East during the summer, providing a space to test entrepreneurial ideas. All proceeds from sales go to the entrepreneurs.

Shared Commercial Space

By 2028, a shared commercial space will serve as an incubator for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses while minimizing financial burdens.

partners

This project was made possible thanks to PME MTL Centre-Est and the CJE Centre-Nord, which organized the workshop program and provided supportive guidance to the young people.

And let’s not forget the dedicated youth workers from the member organizations of the SPVM’s Neighborhood Police Station 30 Youth Roundtable.
